Privacy

No accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, and nothing that records which candidate you might prefer.

What we measure

election.do measures visits with two analytics services, DataFast and Vercel Web Analytics, both used without cookies and without building a profile of you. They report aggregate figures such as how many people visited, which pages they viewed, the referring site, and the country and device type.

To tell visits apart without a cookie, DataFast uses an anonymous identifier calculated from your IP address, browser and this site’s address together with a value that changes every day, so visits on different days are not linked. During a visit your browser holds a session marker in session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.

Anonymous interactions

We also record a few anonymous interactions so we can tell whether the site is useful: which states, races and issues are explored, which sections of a comparison are opened or reached, when a source link or share button is used and through which channel (such as X or a copied link), and when a visit arrives through a shared link. These events describe the page, not the person: they contain identifiers such as georgia-senate or healthcare, never your name, contact details or anything you type.

We don’t collect political preferences or infer affiliations. No event names a candidate or a party, so reading or sharing a comparison is never recorded as interest in either candidate.

What we don’t collect

  • No accounts, sign-ups or email lists.
  • No advertising, ad trackers or data sales.
  • No embedded social-media scripts. Share buttons are plain links that open X, Facebook or WhatsApp only when you choose to.
  • No third-party fonts: fonts are served from this site. The only script loaded from another site is DataFast’s analytics.

Links made with the site’s share buttons include a short label, such as ?via=x, so we can count visits that come from shared links. The label names the channel, not you, and it is removed from the address bar when the page loads.

Correction reports

If you use the correction form, we receive what you submit: the page, your description, any source you add and, only if you provide it, your email address. We use it to review the report and, if you asked, to reply, and for nothing else.

Reports reach us by email through Resend, an email delivery service, which processes the message to deliver it. election.do does not keep a separate copy.

Source links take you to government sites, campaign sites, news organizations and reference works, which have their own privacy practices.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

Who sees it

Analytics figures are seen only by the people who run election.do, in the DataFast and Vercel dashboards, and correction reports only in our email. We don’t sell any of it, and it isn’t shared beyond the services named on this page.
